Printer/Scanner Recycling

CAN I RECYCLE MY OLD PRINTER?

Yes! Printers are recyclable – and actually, they are one of the most frequently recycled household electronic item once they turn outdated or stop working. So if you have an old printer sitting around and taking up extra space in your home, office, or closets, do NOT throw it away with the garbage – recycle it!

THE COST OF UNSAFE DISPOSAL OF PRINTERS IS VERY REAL.

Like all other electronics, printers are made up of materials that are safe while the printer is in use, but can cause dangerous and prove to be hazardous if not properly disposed. As stated by The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, printers together with further end-of-life electronics, are the reason behind majority of mercury found in landfills. As the device decomposes in a landfill, these lethal compounds will seep into the soil and water, which accounts for human health consequences for the adjacent communities.

RECYCLING IS THE PROPER AND LEGAL WAY TO DISPOSE OF PRINTERS.

An increasing number of states are now making it illegal to throw away electronics, including printers, along with the trash. All around the world, E-waste is the rapidly growing waste stream, and given its unbelievably slow process of decomposition, fills up most of the local landfills. Implementation of laws and other incentives have been started by the state in order to encourage residents and businesses to refurbish or recycle electronics rather than throw them away in trash. If it’s not illegal in your state yet, it won’t last long!
